From time to time, I like to just share and vent some thoughts that help me to put things in perspective.
This summer, I adopted a new habit – just start! There have been some things in my life that I hadn’t seen come to fruition yet, or maybe I waited too long and missed the opportunity. As a perfectionist, I like to execute when the plan is set and things are in place. But sometimes the “right moment” never comes into view. Even if you’re not a perfectionist, sometimes the idea of launching out and getting started can be so intimidating that we never do. Once I was told “you’ll never win by playing scared.”
Often times we impose more limitations on ourselves than who or what we’re up against. So I decided to take those limits off and JUST START! I’ve found good success, progress and momentum when I said no to procrastination and just got started! Having a plan is good, but sometimes you just won’t have it all figured out at first. And waiting for all of the stars to align might mean missing your moment.
There are some things that you won’t experience or see until you get to that platform or stage of the game, no matter how much you plan.
But you have to just start first! Some ideas and perspectives only come once you’re in the seat. Whether it’s a new project, diet, regimen, or even cultivating or rebuilding a relationship, just like rushing into cold water at the pool – just start and dive in! I’m not advocate of jumping out of an airplane unprepared but sometimes you just have to be ready take a leap faith. There’s some on the job training with everything, just start where you are!
